Tornado Strikes South Alabama
Negro Woman Slightly Hurt Near Enterprise; Property Damage Is $5,000
Enterprise, Ala., Jan. 10. – Special. – As a result of a tornado which swept across a confined area two miles southwest of Enterprise Saturday, one negro woman was injured and property damage will probably exceed $5,000.
The home of W.E. Harrell suffered most, his dwelling, barn and two tenant houses being almost demolished. The barn and dwelling of I. Yopn was considerably damaged and his windmill and tank demolished. Many trees were uprooted.
In most cases the storm was seen and heard long enough for people to get in storm pits or in ditches.

Negroes Hurt In Enterprise Storm
Much Property Damage Results From Cyclone That Strikes Early Saturday
Enterprise, Ala., Jan. 10. – Special to The Advertiser. – A cyclone struck about three miles south of Enterprise at 8 o’clock Saturday morning, demolishing two tenant houses on the farm of W.E. Harrell and tore away the porch of the home occupied by Mr. Harrell. No lives were lost, but several negroes were injured. One woman suffered injuries which may prove fatal.
The wind was followed by a downpour of rain, which was continued throughout the day, doing much damage to the streets and waterways of the city.
The city was in darkness Saturday night due to the fact that the transmission lines of the Georgia and Alabama Power Company are impaired.
